Hi Machmat,
great site of yours, i like it. Your system looks funny, but the main thing is the sound, isn't it?
Keep going strong.

i discovered via my 845 se,that regulated psu isent the only answer..
chokeinput on the powertubes can do as well..sure i was in the need to find a substitude for my regulated psu with +1200vdc..anyway this is just a hint to you, just a choke and enough caps will do

I agree with most visitors about the quality of the site:
Good Job.
Today I had the opportunity to get 2 altec 421s. One of them has a 'sticky' coil. It makes scrachty noises when being pushed. The Owner said it happened when they fall down.
They were used as a PA system before and they have an Alu dustcap and a white cage.
Anybody knows if the can be 'recentered'?
Any advice warmly welcome.
Thanks
Thomas

I am looking for a pair of Tung Sol 6sn7wgt
tubes for my preamp (Supratek). Please
advise if you have some stock or if not, where would
you advise looking. Also, are the Tung Sols the same as
a Sylvania 6sn7wgt (physically and electrically)?
Thanks!!!!

Hi brother,
Thanks a lot for the Telefunken Tube you gave me for my birthday.
My life will never be the same!
I put it in my effect box and ever since people give me compliments about my guitar playing and they ask me how to get that incredible sound!
Not to mention the groupies!

this is an excellent site for eary surfing and the wealth of info it contains. i really appreciate the time you have taken to put this together and keep it updated.
having learnt electronics circuits inthe early 60's when tubes were predominant i can appreciate the nostalgia that we hold for these devices. but sadly the transistor and ic's have taken away this knowledge bit by bit.
now it is difficult to find tube enthusiasts in my country who can share experiences together.
sites like yours help us to recollect and associate with the past.
keep up the great work.
thank you
best regards

When I left school in the mid 60's I worked in a hifi retail shop and sold amps like the leak you could tell then that the quality was beyond reproach the best sound i have ever heard was from a pair of TL50,s great nice to see the dsigns again in 68 i had a customer who complained that the recifier in his TL 10 had failed it had been in use for 21 years ! Golden memories!!

Your site is fantastic, I really enjoyed reading it.
Your "unknown" schematic featuring 6BQ7, 12B4A, PP 812A should be credited to David O'Rourke, who published the design in an excellent article in the Feb 95 issue of Glass Audio. This great article summarizes David's evaluation of output and driver tube choices. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the great website you obviously have put a LOT of work into it. I am interested in trying to build the single ended amp shown on your pages, the one with the ECC 83 and the KT88 output valve / tube. however I intend using a TT22 which is similar apart from the filament at 12.6 volts. Walter Shawlee2 at Sphere Research has 3 of them in stock at a good price(hint hint). I will keep you posted as to how the amp works.Regards and keep up the good work, from Tony.
