Silver/Mica capacitors Silver/mica capacitors are very good for coupling stages and filter purposes. They mostly consist of a mica layer (kind of glassy material) with silver damped on both sides. This is the most basic capacitor based on very good materials. The sound is.... Well they almost have no sound at all! They give very clear and detailed sound stages. They also are used in a lot of militairy applications, expensive oscilloscopes, medical equipment, etc. A good sign.. They replace styroflex capacitors in CD players and other equipment with very good results. Using the larger value Russian silver mica's as coupling caps really will make a big difference. Matching is free if possible.
