Versions the EL84 / 6BQ5 comes in are:

• EL84 and 6BQ5, the standard versions of the EL84. EL84 is the European name, the 6BQ5 is the same tube, but with the USA name. The English militairy equivalents of the EL84 are the CV2975, CV8069 and CV10321.
• 6pi14pi, Russian exact equivalent of the 6BQ5 / EL84. Directly interchangable.
• The E84L and 7320 are improved long life versions of the EL84. They have slightly higher plate disspation (13.5W instead of 12W) and can handel 450 volts on the plates instead of 300V (EL84).
• The 7189 is the special quality long live version of the EL84.
• 6pi14pi-EB, Russian near equivalent of the E84L, 7320 and the 7189. It can handle a bit more plate dissipation (13.5W instead of 12W) and can have 500 volts of plate voltage according to the datasheets, instead of 300V (EL84).
• The 7189A is like the E84L and the 7320, only has slightly different pinout. This should not be a problem in most amps, please ask me if you are in doubt.
• The 10BQ5 is a EL84 with 10 volt heater voltage.
• The 6GK6, 10GK6, 16GK6 and 29GK6 are equivalent to the EL84, but have different pinout and different heater voltages. The heater voltages of these types are 6.3, 10, 16 and 29 volts respectively.
• The N709 is the Mullard equivalent of the EL84.
